1. Q: Why is GRILLA better than the original?

A: There are several advantages, here are a few:
Strength : You won't break it or put your knee through it.
Protection : The radiator is protected by aluminum bars instead of plastic strips.
Reinforcement : Acts to strengthen the fiberglass hood around the grill opening.
Mounting : You won't have the corner of the grill flap loose as the original often does.
Finish : A rugged, natural finish as opposed to decaying paint on plastic.
Quality : Adds quality and value to your truck.

2. Q: How is GRILLA made?

A: GRILLA is made of 6061 T6 aluminum using solid bars and CNC cut parts rigidly welded together to form a one piece assembly. The grill is formed to fit precisely the curve and shape of the hood, and is drilled to fit your original emblem. Your grill may look flat, but it is not. There is a slight curve, and we duplicate that curve for the proper look. And, as we often say, this is not lawn chair furniture, it is solid, aircraft aluminum.

3. Q: Is GRILLA difficult to install?

A: No, not at all. GRILLA can be installed by one person. As with many repair operations, a helper can make the job easier. Easy to follow instructions are included.

4. Q: What do I get when I purchase GRILLA?

A: You get the GRILLA grill with a complete hardware kit that includes all eight stainless steel mounting bolts, nuts, and washers. You also get four new mount grommets and three new emblem mounting clips. Emblems are not included.

5. Q: How is GRILLA mounted?

A: GRILLA is mounted using the original (8) mounting holes in the hood. All new hardware is included. The outer four bolts fasten through the structure of the hood and use larger and stronger stainless steel bolts. The four inner bolts (at the four "tabs") use the original factory rubber inserts in the hood tabs.

6. Q: What if my hood has broken tabs?

A: GRILLA is mounted to the outer grill mount holes which are in the structure of the hood (near the hing of the hood). GRILLA is very strong and acts to support the hood. Broken or missing center fiberglass grill mount tabs do not create a problem.

7. Q: Can I mount GRILLA using my original bolts and mount grommets?

A: No, GRILLA weighs more than the original plastic grill. GRILLA requires larger and stronger mount bolts in the four outer locations. Hardware specified and included MUST be used.

8. Q: Any tips on removing the old plastic grill?

A: To avoid damage to the center mount tabs, it is often necessary to hold the factory mount grommets when removing the bolts. The easiest way for a single person to do this is to break the grill bars out of the old grill, then reach through and access the grommet area.

9. Q: What about emblems?

A: GRILLA does not sell emblems. We drill the grill to fit both the metal emblem (old type) and the plastic emblem (new type). Most of our customers transfer their emblems. Metal emblems have reusable nuts, and plastic emblems use clips. New clips are included in the hardware packet.

10. Q: Will my old cast aluminum emblem fit?

A: Yes, GRILLA is drilled for both cast aluminum and plastic emblems. New clips are provided for the plastic emblems, as it is recommended to flex the old clips to crack loose to protect emblem mount pins.

11. Q: Can I polish GRILLA to a chrome-like finish?

A: Yes & No, GRILLA is made of 6061 T6 aluminum with solid bars and a brushed finish. Our most popular (in stock) grill is clear anodized to provide the toughest finish. When anodized , the grill can not be polished without aggressive sanding first. We try to keep in stock a limited supply of grills that have not been anodized for the specialty truck owner that wants to polish the surface of his grill. Like your Harley, you will need to maintain the shine, maintainence most buyers don't wish to take on! Please call to check inventory of the non-anodized grills. Our intent was to make a rugged grill for what most Freightliners(tm) are: basic, solid work trucks. The finish is designed to be attractive but rugged and conservative.

12. Q: What is GRILLA's connection with Freightliner™?

A: There is no connection with the company. GRILLA creates a replacement solution to the often broken plastic grill. We think the FL70 is probably the best truck value in its class and we are proud to offer a product that helps keep them looking good.

13. Q: Is GRILLA an American product?

A: Yes! GRILLA is made in the USA (Vista [San Diego], California). Purchasing this product supports an American design and American craftsmen, keeping it in the USA!
